Impact

The audience for When the Stars Begin to Fall are the people of Fitzroy Crossing and neighbouring communities who were devastated by cyclone Ellie’s floods. About 80% of the valley population are Indigenous, whilst the town has demonstrated a great deal of resilience over recent years the project takes place in an isolated and traumatised community. The people who live and struggle there are our target audience. A culturally diverse team of artists will be living and working in town with the community and through a series of workshops there will be a skills exchange as puppets are created with bush materials. The disrupted community will be given a chance to reflect on and celebrate their resilience. The work will allow a major celebration of the completion of the new bridge and help in the healing of this fragile community. The resulting installation will be free to attend with performances staggered across 3 days.
