In 2025, STRUT Dance will deliver a one of its kind in the southern hemisphere, three-week dance festival PERTH MOVES. The festival is threefold: a dance workshop series, an exceptional international collaboration, and a FREE Summer dance hub for ALL. The workshop series is for dance artists from the Asia-Pacific region who will travel to Perth and participate in workshops that facilitate skills development, professional employment, and peer-to-peer networking. Workshops will be led by leading figures of the dance world from local, national, and international contexts. In an Australian first, world-renowned choreographer from Belgium, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui will create a WA adaptation of SATYAGRAHA (the power of truth): a work inspired by notions from Mahatma Ghandi on nonviolent resistance against discrimination and injustice. The presentation will build the capacity, reach and visibility of the unique arts in WA, as well as enriching audiences with an exceptional dance performance that speaks to our time. Concluding the festival is a one-week Summer Dance Hub for all that offers FREE access to dance classes, social dance activities and vibrant participatory events for anyone and everyone. PERTH MOVES responds to timely social and cultural themes; the desire for human connection through the arts from audiences and artists alike, the need for early career development to ensure the next generation of artists and cross-sector collaboration to support the financial sustainability of the arts sector. Proudly positioned in Boorloo, PERTH MOVES celebrates movement, music, connection, and community.

PERTH MOVES 2025 employs 80 + arts workers, creates and presents 1 new WA dance work, provides skills development for 190+ artists and access to dance including FREE access, for 5000 audience including early career dance artists across Australia and the Asia Pacific region. In 2023, STRUT initiated an Asia Pacific network of organisations and donors to support tuition bursaries for 20 (9 x First Nations) participants from Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Singapore. In 2025 our target is to grow this network and offer 35 bursaries, providing access to professional development for a diverse cohort. Equally, our free Dance Hub promotes access to dance for all. This is a one of its kind dance festival in the Southern Hemisphere, PERTH MOVES positions Boorloo as an innovative hub for dance that in turn attracts dance greats, for audiences and artists alike to benefit.
